Care and Maintenance

Discover the best tips and tricks for how to care for your Pandora jewellery.

It's important that you follow the special care instructions for your Pandora jewellery, to ensure it sparkles for years to come. If you're unsure about how to care for your jewellery or would like more information, visit your local Pandora store.

Your Pandora jewellery should be the last thing you put on in the morning and the first thing you take off at night.

POLISH frequently with a soft polishing cloth to maintain the shine. Polishing cloths are available in our care kits.

STORE jewellery separately in a tarnish-resistant jewellery box or jewellery pouch, and keep it away from abrasive surfaces.

SHADE freshwater cultured pearls and leather from direct sunlight or strong lighting to prevent fading.

HANDLE jewellery with love and care, especially freshwater cultured pearls, mother of pearl and glass charms. Be extra careful not to drop them on the floor or knock them against hard surfaces, as this could damage their delicate structures.

REMOVE jewellery prior to swimming, bathing and doing sports or other physical activity.

LIMIT CONTACT with make-up, creams, perfume and lotions.

AVOID silver dips, polishing liquids and strong chemicals.

TAKE CARE OF the hidden silicone grips that some designs feature to keep jewellery fixed in position. We recommend not exposing them to extreme hot or cold temperatures as this could weaken the gripping ability.

GET AN ANNUAL SERVICE. If you wear your jewellery a lot, it’s a good idea to take it to a jeweller at least once a year so they can check the clasps, mountings and soldered details.

Discover the best practices for cleaning your Pandora jewellery.

We recommend that you clean your Pandora jewellery with a soft toothbrush and warm soapy water (dishwashing detergent works best). If the dirt is hard to remove, soak the jewellery for five to ten minutes, before gently brushing the jewellery with the toothbrush.

Our gentle cleaning solution that's available in our Care Kits is a safe option to use for your Pandora Rose or Pandora Shine jewellery. However, if you are using an alternative brand, we recommend reading the instructions carefully to ensure it can be used on plated jewellery.

We recommend never soaking freshwater cultured pearls or mother of pearl in water or rubbing them harshly, as this could damage the nacre. Instead, wipe them with a soft, clean cloth that has been dampened by warm soapy water. Wearing pearls and mother of pearl is one of the best ways to care for it, as contact with natural skin oils helps maintain their lustre.

If a lacquered artificial pearl (a crystal core coated with an innovative lacquer resembling the pearlescence of a pearl) is a little dusty, dust it with a clean, dry antistatic cloth. If dirt has built up, gently wipe it with a clean microfibre or lint-free cotton cloth that has been dampened in lukewarm soapy water, then pat it dry with a dry cloth.

Clean glass jewellery by gently wiping it over with a soft lint-free cloth that has been dampened with lukewarm, soapy water. Then wipe the glass with water (without soap) and pat the jewellery dry with a soft cloth.

To keep leather in good condition, you can wipe it gently with a soft, dry cloth. Remember to keep leather out of direct sunlight.

To clean fabric jewellery, run a slightly dampened white cottom cloth over it, taking care to not rub too vigorously.

To keep your Matte Brilliance jewellery sparkling, we recommend soaking it in our gentle cleaning solution, available in our Care Kits. Please take care while wearing your Matte Brilliance jewellery, as it could catch on delicate fabrics.

Each Pandora Murano glass charm is unique because of the small variations in the design, colour and size of each charm, which is hand-finished.

As genuine leather is a natural product, you might notice small, subtle changes as it ages. The leather may stretch over time, or you may notice variations in the colour. This is normal and part of the leather’s beauty.

Oxidation and plating on metal does naturally fade over time. How long will depend on how well you take care of your jewellery. This is normal wear and tear, not a manufacturer's fault. To ensure your jewellery continues to sparkle for years to come, it's important to follow our care instructions.

Pandora offers a wide selection of bracelets that you can style with charms. Moments snake chain bracelets can be filled completely with charms, while Moments bangles can be filled halfway. Pandora Reflexions bracelets can be styled with 5 to 7 clip charms, while leather bracelets fit up to 7 charms.

Moments charms are compatible with Moments bracelets, while Pandora Reflexions Clip charms are compatible with Pandora Reflexions bracelets.

A bracelet or bangle will be a perfect fit when you can fit two fingers between the bracelet and your wrist. We recommend measuring your wrist and adding 1-2cm to allow for charms.

Our Care Kits offer everything you need to keep your jewellery sparkling. The kit include a gentle cleaning solution suitable for all metals, a soft brush and a handling tray. There is also a double-sided polishing cloth - use the white side for sterling silver and 14ct jewellery and the pink side for Pandora Rose and Pandora Shine.

Ultrasonic Cleaning

Ultrasonic cleaners must always be used with care. They are ideal for cleaning most metal jewellery that doesn't feature stones or isn't plated. Follow the instructions for the ultrasonic cleaner carefully and make sure to use the right cleaning solution and the proper temperature.

Allergic Reactions

Pandora jewellery is made from high-quality materials without added nickel. As a result, our customers seldom experience allergic reactions. We do not add nickel to the Pandora silver and gold alloys, but naturally occurring trace amounts of nickel may be present in the jewellery. However, these amounts are so low that only people who are hypersensitive may react to them.

Nickel Disclosure

It is legally compliant to use the phrases “nickel free” or “nickel safe” if trace elements are within acceptable levels. While copper is used as a key component in the alloys that Pandora uses, we do not intentionally add lead or nickel. However, natural occurring trace amounts may still be present. Laboratory tests prove that these amounts are well below those permitted by strict European regulations, and Pandora alloys are technically classified as “nickel free".

Some metals may react with your skin and create a discoloration. This is a common reaction caused by copper. As Pandora Rose is rich in copper content, some people may experience a green discolouration of their skin caused by a chemical reaction between acids in their skin and the metal of the jewellery, or a reaction between the metal and another substance on the hand, such as a lotion. The green colour is not harmful in itself and can easily be removed with water and soap.
